However, I just looked at the Line6 Pod HD500X Pro which may be the successor to the HD Pro Rack (not sure about that) and its audio interface capabilities more or less equal those of the Eleven Rack.
Its what got me into recording with ProTools and I would recommend it to anyone! I owned an Eleven Rack for about a year and a half.
Just in case the OP still can't make up his mind. I doubt either is streets ahead of the other - I just prefer Line 6 as i've used their gear for years and it's never let me down. Whilst mine is connected via AES/EBU, i've got a spare line out from the unit running to my 6G2 if I want a modelled effect that I don't have in my pedalboard, and it works a treat.Ĭan't speak for the Eleven rack, but i'm sure it's a highly functional too. It's got more ins and outs than you can poke a stick at too. Otherwise I certainly don't hesitate to reach for the POD if I need a contrasting amp flavour. I do prefer my real 6G2 Princeton, but that's just because it's my tone, and it's not a pre-modelled amp available on the POD. But I do pull out my Jackson and get my 90's Slayer and Pantera on from time to time, and with a good set of monitors I can dial in a killer tone within a few tweaks of the dials.
I do think the POD Pro caters more for high-gain stack lovers, whereas i'm more of a single coil/Fender combo rock 'n' roller. I really like my Line 6 POD HD Pro - the modelling is a true step up from their earlier POD revisions and in the density of a mix is near impossible to pick from a real amp.
